Un titre de Bob Dylan, paru en 1968 sur le LP "John Wesley Harding" (Ref: CBS 63252), devenu culte essentiellement grâce à l'adaptation qu'en a fait Jimi Hendrix avec tellement d'impact que d'autres artistes et groupes (nombreux) ont par la suite interprété ce titre, il n'y a qu'à voir les années de sorties...
Je n'ai pas mis toutes les versions Hendrixiennes! Liens Youtube pour certains covers pas forcément en rapport avec les dates, c'est juste pour vous faire une idée...

Radio Internet "Psychedelic"

Une autre Radio Internet "Psychedelic" moins garage que "Beyond the Beat Generation", j'aime bien le côté Psyché parfois Acid des titres proposés, bien entendu passent les grosses locomotives de l'époque mais aussi et en grande quantité des groupes plus obscurs. Le son est très bon et l'écoute pour ma part se fait par mon système BlueSound & Node2.

Niveau guitare Melvin Taylor est pour moi un Monsieur, un des grands méconnus de la 6 cordes et comme beaucoup de Bluesmen, il est absolument absent des médias sauf le peu parlant Blues et encore.
C'est aussi un touche à tout, à l'aise aussi bien dans le Blues que dans le Jazz où il a côtoyé des grands comme Corea, DiMeola etc... ce qui vous situe le niveau technique, écoutez "Tribute to Wess".

Un double CD de Vibravoid Live fantastique, Psyché Space Rock dans tous les coins. Même le titre/reprise de "Can" de 44mn reste écoutable. Ce trio allemand est magique, le son sur scène est top, l'enregistrement 100% live, sans overdub d'après les notes de pochette.
Enregistré au Freakstage Burg Herzberg Festival, Breitenbach, Germany, le 18 Juillet 2010.
La reprise du "Tomorrow Never Knows" des Beatles (1966) est un pur joyau psychédélique. Je vous ai mis le lien YouTube ci-dessous.

Titre orthographié de différentes façons écrit par Dale Hawkins en 1956 (Copyright). Le titre au niveau Copyright est attribué aussi à Eleanor Broadwater et Stan Lewis, ce qu'a toujours contesté Dale Hawkins qui a toujours prétendu en être le seul et unique auteur/compositeur, le document aurait été trafiqué à son insu. L'histoire dit qu'il y aurait une dette importante de Stan Lewis envers le mari d'Eleanor Broadwater... En tous les cas c'est un bien beau morceau que ce Susie Q.

Pour moi ce bouquin est là surtout pour ceux qui n'ont pas connu ou très tardivement cette époque formidable où la zique avait un fondement nommé le Blues, une jeunesse qui voulait que ça bouge etc... Encore aujourd'hui nombre d'artistes (non fabriqués) sont inspirés par ce style.
Les "importateurs" du Blues en Europe sont d'abord les soldats US avec leurs vinyls, suite à celà les fous de Blues notamment les anglais qui par l'intermédiaire de quelques artistes comme Alexis Korner, Cyril Davies, John Mayall principalement (Grands Pères du British Blues) puis quelques Bluesmen américains qui ont franchi le pas (Memphis Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker etc..) nous ont fait partager cette musique qui par la suite nous révélera de nombreux talents comme les Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Yardbirds, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Eric Burdon, Chicken Shack etc....
J'ai eu plaisir à lire ce livre, agrémenté de quelques photos et d'une petite discographie.

Blues Project - Lazarus / Blues Project - 1971/1972

Deux LP sur ce CD, une très bonne affaire surtout pour un groupe de l'envergure de Blues Project. Groupe US qui a œuvré principalement pendant 8 ans environ dont 2 ans (1968/70) où le groupe c'est séparé la 1ere fois. Enregistrement de haute qualité, très propre, ce qui nous permet d'apprécier le jeu de chaque musicien. Si vous avez un DAC branché sur votre PC ou autre objet informatique ou une chaîne HiFi de qualité, c'est un plaisir à écouter.
Personne ne se détache du groupe, c'est vraiment une unité. Orientation Blues pour la majorité des titres, j'ai quand même un petit faible pour le jeu de guitare de Danny Kalb!

Bulbous Creation - You Won't Remember Dying - 1969/1970

Par rapport au précédent Post sur "Bolder Damn", on a là un groupe d'une toute autre envergure qui joue avec un mélange de Blues, Psyché et Acid Rock d'une façon originale et absolument superbe.
Il y a un petit côté Al Kooper/Stephen Stills/Mike Bloomfield du "Super Session".
Cà fait des années que je cherchais ce disque sans succès et en 2011, lors d'un voyage en Allemagne j'ai trouvé ce CD. La plupart du temps on le trouve avec un peu de chance sous la forme de Bootleg.
La pochette est démente sans aucune information sur les musiciens et autres. On sait seulement que ce groupe venait d'un coin du côte du Kansas ou Missouri.
Merci à ceux qui ont déniché cette perle dans les archives du "Cavern Sound Studios, Missouri". Jamais éditée avant 1994.

Bolder Damn - Mourning - 1971 ou 1972

               CD édité Erebus Records - 1996 - Reference: ERCD031

J'ai tout lu et vu sur ce groupe et son unique album. Exemple parfois classé dans le Doom Rock, Stoner Rock, Psyché Rock voir Acid Rock etc.... pour moi rien de tout çà, c'est du Hard/Heavy Rock tout simple. C'est vrai que dans le morceau "Dead Meat" on sent quelques influences de Huriah Heep (7:20) ou Black Sabbath (8:50) et à part quelques rares moments surtout sur les solos guitare le reste est quand même assez classique. Je me suis fié aux avis et voilà, ça accroche pas pour moi!
Les prix demandés pour le vinyl original sont exorbitants et à mon avis non justifiés!

- L'année d'édition semble être 1971 au même titre que l'enregistrement mais sur les notes de pochette il est fait mention de 1972, Vernon Joynson nous dit 1971. Je crois que 1971 est l'année où le groupe a édité le disque à très peu d'exemplaires et 1972 est l'année où le LP a était distribué par une maison de disques. C'est juste une supposition.
- AC/DC aurait-il écouté le titre "Monday Mourning"?

Un disque de guitare, de très bonne guitare, on est loin des Black Orchids! Le jeu est souvent Psyché Blues et parfois Acid Rock. Le titre "Rolling Stone" avec ses 13mn et son petit coup d'oeil à Jimi, vers 10mn est un super Blues comme "Drinkin' Blues" d'ailleurs...

Sonny Terry - Sonny's Story - 1960

            CD édité en 1990 par Prestige/Bluesville, Germany - Ref: OBCCD 503-2

Sonny Terry, un des grands de l'harmonica, ancien musicien de rue, par la suite des "Medicine Shows", sa rencontre avec Blind Boy Fuller (1934) est le point de départ de sa carrière comme Bluesmen reconnu. Premiers enregistrements en 1938 avec Bull City Red au Washboard chez Vanguard suite à sa rencontre avec John Hammond.
Une autre rencontre, celle avec Brownie McGhee en 1939 va faire que quelques années plutard un des plus grands Duo de l'histoire du Blues va se former et durer plusieurs décennies.
Sur ce CD, il n'y à rien à éliminer, l'ensemble est de haute qualité.

Fremont's Group - The Best of Jimi Hendrix - 1971

Inconnu pour vous ce groupe? Qui se cache derrière ce nom? Si je vous parle de Mahmoud Ayari où plus familièrement de "Chico", c'est déjà plus clair, en fait c'est le Chico Magnetic Band, l'interprètre de ces titres de Jimi. C'est assez bien foutu, avec un très bon guitariste, assez proche des originaux pas trop de dérapages comme sur scène, lieu où toute la folie de Chico pouvait s'exprimer, comme ont pu le constater de nombreux spectateurs, dont malheureusement je n'étais pas!

Bon, je ne vais pas réécrire que qui l'a déjà été de bien meilleure façon sur Chico et son groupe, si vous voulez de très bonnes informations, allez donc faire un tour sur ce site: "Chico Magnetic Band", et pourquoi pas celui-ci par la suite: "France Heavy Rock".

Superbe biographie sur B.B. King, en anglais mais ça le fait bien!
Il y a beaucoup de photos (deux exemples ci-dessous), une discographie de 1949 à 1980, l'auteur aborde le déroulement de sa vie familiale, musicale mais aussi l'époque de sa jeunesse avec les lynchages, le travail aux plantations, la séparation des Blancs d'avec les Noirs, ses rencontres avec les "Bluesmen" blanc comme Paul Butterfield, Elvin Bishop et autres...
C'est un bon bouquin.

Ce disque je ne l'ai acheté à l'origine que pour les 2 parties d'un seul titre: "The Lost Mother Land", titre des plus Acid Rock/Psyché Rock, vraiment à part du reste du CD mais il y a malgré tout 2, 3 titres "Blues" intéressants en plus, d'ailleurs l'ensemble est assez Blues Rock.

Electric Psychedelic Sitar Headstwirlers - Vol.8

CD édité par Purple Lantern Records en 2 coffrets de 5 CD, en 1999.

Le sitar, instrument très lié à la musique psychédélique, les plus grands l'ont utilisé comme les Beatles, Rolling Stones etc... mais aussi maints groupes plus où moins connus et c'est là le but de cette compilation, c.a.d. regrouper les titres de tous ces groupes sur une série de 10 volumes.
Le sitar est souvent un apport dans une musique déjà construite, la petite touche qui chatouille les tympans et qui souvent rend le morceau Psyché.
George Harrison et les Beatles sont à la base de tout cet engouement.

Disque mythique enregistré Live en 1972 et édité par le groupe sur leur label "Black Orchids" en 1974, classé souvent dans le Psyché, j'ajouterais pour ma part plutôt dans le Psyché Blues car le seul et unique titre "AWOL" de 28mn+ (5mn aurait suffi!), est construit sur la base du Blues. Ça n'est qu'un long solo de guitare assez classique, le guitariste est accompagné d'un bassiste et d'un batteur plutôt bons.
Pour ma part disque très surestimé surtout comparé à celui des Canned Heat "Livin' the Blues" où les solos d'Henry Vestine sur le titre "Refried Boogie" sont de très haute volée, avec des variations, souvent avec des côtés "Acid" prononcés, tout çà sur plus de 40mn, on pourrait parler du Clapton époque Cream....

S'adresse en particulier à ceux n'ayant pas ou peu connu cette époque de la musique progressive située entre 1967 et 1979. C'est avec ce genre d'ouvrage que l'on voit l'interpénétration des styles de musique, on peut y remarquer que le Progressif est aussi un mélange d'Acid Rock, Psyché Rock, Progressive Rock, Krautrock et Pop Rock, en effet auprès des King Crimson, Caravan et autres Pink Floyd on peut trouver aussi bien du Guru Guru, Birth Control, Amon Düül que du J.M. Jarre. Bien entendu l'essentiel est là, rassurez-vous, le tout en anglais.
